For an eSIM to work, your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked (not tied to a carrier).
How to check
- Dial *#06#
Dial *#06# in the Phone app. If an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM.
- Or look in the settings
iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service. Android: Settings → Connections → SIM manager. If there is an "Add eSIM" option, it is compatible.
- Check that it is unlocked
The phone must accept another carrier's SIM card. If you are not sure, ask the carrier or shop that sold it.
Phones that support eSIM
- Apple
- iPhone XR, XS and every later model
- iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
- Samsung
- Galaxy S20 and later S series
- Galaxy Note20 series
- Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series
- Google
- Pixel 3 and later models
- Others
- Some recent models from Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Motorola and others
- To be sure, check with *#06#
The same model is sold differently in different countries: for example, iPhones made for mainland China have no eSIM. That is why checking with *#06# is the most reliable way.
